We have the pleasure of working on great open innovation challenges and social impact projects around the world – here are just a few examples…

UBS Grand Challenge

A social innovation challenge aimed at finding financial solutions to five of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Our role was to design, deliver and facilitate the challenge, which was open to the 65,000+ employee base globally. Over 1200 employees joined the challenge and from the 245 proposals submitted six finalist teams were selected to pitch their ideas at the Grand Final event in Zurich. The winning team are currently working with the Center for Global Development in Washington DC to commercialise their solution.

“Jaclyn did a great job working with us on the UBS Grand Challenge, delivering a global programme where staff were engaged to develop a large number of innovative financial solutions. I would be very happy to work with Jaclyn in the future on innovation and transformation programmes.”

Ford Go Detroit

A social innovation challenge designed to stimulate new ideas and to find ways to better connect Detroit communities through new and improved mobility solutions.

Our role was to design, deliver and facilitate the challenge with our partners 100%Open and Devpost. This was a crowd-sourced challenge, which attracted 500+ people globally and resulted in 120 idea submissions. We also engaged researchers from Harvard University and Wayne State University to conduct an ethnographic study focused on understanding the mobility challenges of Detroit residents. The winning team – Cart, a transportation service providing access to healthy, affordable grocery stores – have recently completed a pilot and are working to expand their services through a more inclusive food access and nutrition education pilot that brings diverse partners, including Ford Motor Company, together.

“The online platform was facilitated well and the interpretation of the ethnographic research to glean tangible insights was very well done. The prototyping session was a highlight  – flawlessly executed. Jaclyn and Simone were able to respond and pivot to changing objectives in real time.”

Nesta partnered with Innovate UK and a team of academic, public and private sector organisations to lead the design and delivery of a new tailor-made development program for innovation policymakers in Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Peru.
